Mantua Private Tour
When booking, you can choose between 3 different tours. They all start from a central location, Piazza Sordello.
Mantua Tour (2 hours)
If you choose this option, we'll go on a two-hour tour of Mantua's historic centre. Our first stop will be the Doge's Palace courtyards and gardens to discover the Gonzaga family's legacy.
Then, we'll walk through the old town, crossing medieval squares such as Piazza Broletto, where the Palazzo del Podestà and the Arengario arch are located. The route will take us to the Basilica di Sant'Andrea, designed by the same architect who conceived the façade of the Basilica of Santa Maria Novella in Florence: the celebrated Aberti. The tour will end at the Piazza delle Erbe.
Timetable: Monday to Friday at 10 am and 3 pm. Saturdays and Sundays at 10 am.
Mantua Tour + Doge's Palace (3 hours)
On this tour, we'll visit the interior of the Doge's Palace and not just its gardens. Did you know that it has often been described as a palace-city because of the large number of buildings it houses? It holds over 35,000 square metres of surface area!
One of the structures that will call your attention the most in the Doge's Palace is the San Giorgio Castle, where a real Renaissance jewel is hidden, the Chamber of the Spouses or Camera degli Sposi. We'll reveal all the details surrounding the colourful 15th century frescoes.
Once we have finished this visit, we'll spend two hours walking through the main streets of Mantua ending the tour in Piazza delle Erbe.
Timetable: Monday to Friday at 9.30 am and 2.30 pm. Saturdays and Sundays at 9:30 am.
Mantua Tour + Doge's Palace and Te Palace (5 hours)
This is the most comprehensive option. After visiting the Doge's Palace and enjoying the walking tour around Mantua, we'll stop at another tourist attraction, the Te Palace. Did you know that its origin dates back to 1524?
Constructed as a recreational location and following the model of the ancient Roman villas, the Te Palace was designed by one of the most outstanding students of the famous Raphael: Giulio Romano. We'll visit its different rooms discovering hundred year old frescos. The Hall of the Horse, the Chamber of Love and Psyche, the Hall of the Giants... The tour will end outside Te Palace.
Timetable: Monday to Friday at 9:30 am.
Museum closures
Please note that the Tea Palace closes on Tuesdays, and the Doge's Palace will closes on Mondays.
