By booking this day trip to Marsella, you'll discover one of the most traditional cities in Colombia. In addition, we'll learn how to make delicious artisan chocolate.
Marsella Day Trip
At 7 am we'll pick you up at your hotel in Manizales and drive to the department of Risaralda, where the Colombian municipality of Marsella is located.
On the way, we'll drive through the beautiful coffee plantations of the Cauca River Valley. Once in Marsella, we'll head to an agricultural farm, where we'll be welcomed with an aperitif of patacones con hogao, a delicious onion and tomato sauce made from the local produce.
Then, we'll take a tour of the farm to see the fruit trees and cocoa crops. You'll also have the opportunity to participate in an organic chocolate-making workshop. You'll experience first-hand the extraction of cocoa beans, roasting and grinding. With the juice that we'll obtain, we'll prepare a chocolate drink.
We'll accompany this drink with a regional lunch in which we'll taste a typical dish such as "sancocho", made with chicken meat and products from the farm.
Next, we'll drive to the village, stopping for a cup of Colombian coffee in the main square. We'll then enjoy the colonial architecture of Marsella's most emblematic buildings, such as the Casa de la Cultura, whose rooms make up a museum that has been declared a National Heritage Site.
We'll also visit the Botanical Garden, where we'll have a relaxing walk, and the José María Cemetery, another of the most visited places in Marsella.
Finally, we'll return to Manizales and drop you off at your hotel at 4:30 pm.
