Ava, Amarapura and Sagaing Trip
At 8:30 am, we will pick you up from your hotel in Mandalay, before setting off in a car on a magnificent tour of the region's ancient sites.
After a 45-minute drive, we reach the fascinating ruined city of Ava. Here we will see the leaning tower, which in the past formed part of a palace complex. We will also see the Maha Aungmye Bonzan monastery and the Bagaya Kyaung monastery, built with teak wood.
Our tour then continues by visiting Sagaing, one of the most important cities in the country because of its religious influence and the fact it was the capital of Burma in the 18th century. We will climb to the top of the hill to see the beautiful temples that rise among the vegetation.
After having one hour of free time to enjoy lunch on your own, we will set off for Amarapura, otherwise known as the City of Immortality. Here, we will discover the remains of shrines that were moved to Mandalay on the backs of elephants.
You will be able to explore the mystical constructions and get to know the famous U Bein Bridge. You will hear how this is believed to be the oldest wooden bridge in the world. Finally, we will arrive in front of the majestic Mahagandayon Monastery, which houses a school of 1200 monks.
After the visit, we will return to Mandalay and drop you off at your hotel at 6:30 pm.
