2 Day Amazon Tour
2 Day Amazon Tour
Day 1 - Río Negro
On the first day, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Manaus at the indicated time to start this two-day adventure through the Amazon jungle. We'll go by car towards the region of Cachoeira do Castanho. Once we arrive, we'll hop on board a motorized canoe that will take us to our starting point for a two-and-a-half-hour hike. Along the route, our guide will point out various wildlife and fauna local to the region.
After our hike, we'll come to a floating house along the Amazon River, where we'll stop for lunch. The menu can include fish, chicken, rice, beans, spaghetti, and manioc flowers. As we enjoy our meal, you can take a dip in the river or enjoy the view. With our energies recharged, we'll jump back in our canoe and visit a pink dolphin research center, where we'll meet these friendly, intelligent creatures who love human company! As move on from the center, we'll move along down the river admiring its beauty, and later in the day try our hand at fishing for piranhas.
Finishing up our day on the river, we'll canoe along the water to catch a glimpse of the beautiful sunset over this majestic natural wonder. These are views you surely won't want to miss, so have your camera ready. As we head back to camp we'll try to spot a few alligators and other nocturnal wildlife in the area.
We'll bring the day to a close, staying the night with a local family in the Amazonian jungle.
Day 2 - Amazon
We'll get up very early to catch a beautiful sunrise over the jungle. Afterwards, we'll enjoy breakfast, and then get the day started.
On the second day of this tour, we'll cover a longer distance, so we'll use a faster boat to navigate the waters. Our first stop will be an indigenous village along the river, where we'll learn about their daily life, culture, and traditional rituals. During the dry season(August through September) and part of the rainy season (from January to June), we can even reach one of the most beautiful beaches found in the region.
During the rainy season and part of the dry season, we'll also visit the January Ecological Park, where we'll enjoy lunch at a floating restaurant in the river. From there we'll take a hike through the flooded forest to see water lilies. In case there isn't enough water to arrive to the floating restaurant, we'll enjoy lunch at a different restaurant along the Río Negro riverbed.
We'll also visit a floating village in the middle of the Amazonian river, Lago do Catalão, with rainy and dry seasons allowing us passage. In this unique site, we'll see a fishfarm full of a distinct species of fish called Pirarucu (Arapaima gigas), colloquially known as river monsters.
To culminate this Amazonian adventure, we'll sail towards the confluence of Río Negro and the Amazon allowing you to witness the awe-inspiring beauty of these two remarkable natural wonders. We'll part ways after taking you back to Manaus, arriving at about 5 pm.
