Somoto Canyon Excursion
Description
We'll kick off this adventure by picking you up at your hotel in Managua bright and early at 6 am. Get ready for an incredible excursion that will lead us to one of Nicaragua's most awe-inspiring natural treasures: the Somoto Canyon.
During the comfortable minibus ride, we'll make a quick stop to rest and, if you'd like, you can have breakfast to fuel up for the day ahead. After approximately 4 hours on the road, we'll reach the breathtaking gorge, where a knowledgeable guide will be waiting to give us the equipment for our adventure.
Our first leg of the journey involves a fun 1.2-mile (2 km) hike through knee-deep water. Then, we'll board a boat and enjoy a scenic ride to the entrance of the Somoto Canyon.
Once we arrive, you'll have 3 options to choose from: marvel at the spectacular viewpoint, take a refreshing swim in the Coco River, or ride on a giant floatie for 1,312 ft (400 meters) down the canyon. Which option will you go for? No matter what you decide, you're guaranteed to have an amazing time!
By 2 pm, we'll conclude our adventure and treat ourselves to a well-deserved traditional lunch that will include rice, beans, salad, and chicken.
To wrap up our excursion through the Somoto Canyon, we'll head back to your hotel in Managua, arriving around 7 pm.
