León Tour
Description
We'll kick off our exciting adventure to the historic city of León bright and early at 9 am, picking you up from your hotel in Managua. Our comfortable bus ride will take approximately an hour and a half, leading us to the base of the impressive Momotombo volcano. Here, we'll discover the remnants of the original city, now known as the ruins of León Viejo, founded by Spanish conquistador Francisco Hernandez de Cordoba.
From there, we'll proceed to present-day León, where our first stop will be the Cathedral – a remarkable architectural masterpiece. Did you know that the renowned poet Rubén Darío, who left an indelible mark on Nicaragua's literary heritage, rests here? After taking in the cathedral's grandeur, we'll continue our journey with a visit to the House-Museum, providing insight into Darío's childhood and life.
As we explore the city further, we'll wander through the local market, offering a delightful opportunity to sample the mouthwatering traditional products that León has to offer. You'll have 1-hour of free time to indulge in the flavors of León's gastronomy!
Our cultural tour continues with a visit to the Art Center of the Ortiz-Gurdián Foundation, where we'll delve into the artistic techniques and styles prevalent in this region of Nicaragua. After immersing ourselves in the vibrant local art scene, we'll begin our return journey to Managua.
Finally, to wrap up our enriching excursion, we'll drop you off at your hotel by 5 pm.
