Private Batik Workshop
Private Batik Workshop
We'll pick you up at your hotel in Malang at 8 am and head north towards the district of Singosari to discover one of its most representative handicraft traditions.
After an hour's drive, we'll reach the town of Klampok, where the Singhasari Museum is located. Here we'll make a brief tour of its rooms to observe sculptures and works of local craftsmanship and learn about the batik technique, an art form that typically uses beeswax and kerosene to decorate fabrics.
After visiting the museum we'll move to a workshop to learn how to decorate fabrics with this traditional method. You can choose the designs you like and recreate them on the fabric using materials such as brushes and canting (also called tjanting), a kind of pen with a metal tip to apply wax.
Once the drawing is finished, we'll wait for it to dry while we enjoy a typical Indonesian lunch. At the end of the batik workshop, we'll return to Malang and drop you back off at your hotel, arriving around 3 pm.
