Day 1: Makassar - Sengkang
On the first day of the 6-day tour, we'll pick you up from Makassar airport and set off on the journey to Sengkang. During the 4-hour drive, we'll pass through the beautiful Soppeng countryside and stop at a viewpoint to admire the landscapes surrounding us.
Once we arrive in Sengkang, we'll make our way to Lake Tempe. We'll visit the traditional houseboats on the lake and have a lunch break. Then, we'll meet the Bugi people while enjoying a magical sunset. Don't forget your camera! At the end of the day, we'll head to the hotel to have dinner and rest until the next day.
Day 2: Sengkang - Tana Toraja
We'll start the morning with a visit to a silk workshop where we'll discover the handicraft work of the local weavers. Afterwards, we'll set off towards the Toraja region, located around 5 hours away. We'll make a stop for lunch on the way and finish the day at the hotel, where we'll have dinner.
Day 3: Tana Toraja
Let's find out why the villages of Tana Toraja are so famous! First, we'll have a delicious breakfast and then we'll head to Lemo, where we'll witness an interesting funeral rite. You'll be struck by the multitude of dolls that decorate the area! We'll learn about this tradition and other customs of the Tana Toraja tribe.
The route will then take us to Kambira, where we'll visit a home in the village and discover more local funerary customs and the link between trees and babies. Then, we'll continue to the village of Tampang Allo, where we'll take a break to have lunch.
After lunch, we'll head to Kete-kesu and see the old houses called Tongkonan, symbols of the Toraja family community. We'll then return to the hotel for dinner and rest.
Day 4: Tana Toraja
We'll start the fourth day of our tour with a visit to a local market, and we'll then head to the village of Bori, famous for its menhirs. Do you know the significance of these rocks?
Next stops: Tinimbayo and Batutumonga! These two spectacular viewpoints will offer us panoramic views over the city of Rantepao. Here, we'll take a 2-hour hike in the mountains.
Then, we'll return to Rantepao to enjoy a delicious lunch at a local restaurant. The last stop will be in Londa to see a fascinating cave. From there, we'll head back to the hotel for a well-deserved dinner and rest.
Day 5: Tana Toraja - Makassar
On the fifth day, we'll have an energizing breakfast and then travel back to Makassar, stopping halfway to take in the breathtaking views. We'll continue our journey to a restaurant where we'll eat a typical local dish. In the afternoon, we'll arrive in Makassar to check in at the hotel and enjoy free time until dinner.
Day 6: Rammang-Rammang - Leang-Leang - Makassar
On the last day of our adventure, Rammang-Rammang awaits us. After an hour's drive, we'll arrive at this hidden paradise for a boat ride and a short hike to a breathtaking viewpoint.
The next stop will be Leang-Leang, a spot famous for its cave paintings. Then, we'll head to a local restaurant for a delicious lunch. We'll end this 6-day tour by dropping you off at Makassar airport at 4 pm.
Accommodation
This tour includes 1 night's accommodation in Sengkang at the Sermani Hotel or similar, 3 nights' accommodation in Tana Toraja at the Luta Hotel or similar, and 1 night in Makassar at the Ibis or Horison Hotel. The price indicated is per person staying in a double room.
