Mainz Christmas Market Tour
Tour Details
A visit to the Mainz Christmas Market is an absolute must if you're visiting during the festive season. We'll meet at the indicated time at Liebfrauenplatz 5 in Mainz, before heading to the Mainz Christmas Market in the Marktplatz, right next to the stunning 1,000-year-old Mainz Cathedral.
This market has been a cornerstone of Mainz’s holiday traditions since 1799, making it one of Germany’s oldest Christmas markets. As we enter, we'll be greeted by the illuminated Christmas pyramid, featuring life-size, hand-carved nativity figures.
Once inside, we'll step into a true winter wonderland, with twinkling lights above us and cosy wooden stalls offering a treasure trove of local crafts. Whether you're looking for handmade nativity figurines, wooden toys, or unique Christmas decorations, this is the ideal spot to find those last-minute gifts.
As we explore, we’ll indulge in one of the region's classic seasonal treats—a warming cup of mulled wine, perfect for keeping us toasty as we wander. You'll also find plenty of other festive delights, from pretzels to stollen, Germany's traditional Christmas cake.
The festive spirit will be in full swing, with choirs singing Christmas carols, and theatrical performances adding an extra layer of magic to the atmosphere. There's also plenty to keep the little ones entertained, including a traditional carousel and Christmas decoration workshops.
After 1.5 hours of festive fun, we’ll wrap up our tour in the Marktplatz feeling merry and bright.
