Visit Toledo and Segovia, two of the most popular destinations in Spain, on this day trip from Madrid. You'll discover the “City of Three Cultures” and the home to a magnificent Roman aqueduct.
Description
At 7:45 am, we'll meet in front of Las Ventas metro station in Madrid. From this point, we'll depart by bus to Toledo and Segovia, where we'll discover why they have been declared World Heritage Sites by Unesco!
Our first stop will be in Toledo, known as the "City of Three Cultures" because it preserves important traces of the history of the three religions that inhabited the area for centuries.
We'll enjoy the city's millenary architectural, artistic and urban heritage as we walk through its narrow streets, squares and gardens. We'll pass by the Cathedral of Toledo, one of the most outstanding examples of Spanish Gothic architecture, and the Monastery of San Juan de los Reyes, the place chosen by the Catholic Monarchs to be buried. Before departing for Segovia, we'll admire some of the most impressive panoramic views of Toledo from the San Martín Bridge and the Mirador del Valle viewpoint.
The next stop will be in Segovia, where you'll have free time for lunch. Of course, we'll see the Aqueduct, one of the best-preserved monuments left by the Romans in the Iberian Peninsula. We'll visit the Cathedral of Segovia, popularly known as the "Lady of the Cathedrals" for the astonishing beauty of its Gothic style with Renaissance influences.
Next, we'll walk through the Canonjías neighbourhood until we reach the famous Alcázar, one of the most visited monuments in Spain, from where we'll be able to admire part of the walled area that surrounded Segovia in medieval times.
Finally, after a total of 11 hours, we'll arrive back in the Spanish capital.
