Visit one of the most beautiful and historic cities in Spain on our Toledo Half-Day Trip. We'll learn about the legacy of El Greco and discover how Christian, Muslim and Jewish cultures coexisted in its old town.
Toledo Half-Day Trip
When making your booking, you'll be able to opt for the Toledo half-day trip in the morning or afternoon. Both excursions will start from Calle San Nicolás and finish in the Plaza de Oriente 5 hours later.
Toledo Morning Trip
Having met up at 8:45 am, we'll set off from the centre of Madrid on a comfortable bus and arrive in Toledo around 1 hour later. Let's explore this World Heritage City!
When we arrive, we'll take a guided tour so we can learn about over 2,000 years of Toledo's history. We'll discover how Jews, Christians and Muslims lived together in the City of the Three Cultures and see how this influenced Toledo's architectural style.
As we stroll through Toledo's cobbled, steep streets, we'll see iconic buildings and places such as Zocodover Plaza, the Alcázar and the Cathedral, which dates back to the 13th century. We'll head inside this important building to admire its architecture and the Gothic art as we explore its different chapels and gaze at its stained glass windows. While we're here, we'll also see the works by El Greco in its sacristy.
Before returning to Madrid, you'll have around 20 minutes of free time so you can finish exploring the city.
Toledo Afternoon Trip
If you go for the afternoon trip, we'll leave Madrid behind and head to Toledo at 3 pm. Once we've arrived, we'll do a tour similar to the one described above. However, instead of visiting the Cathedral, we'll head inside two other monuments: Santo Tomé Church and Santa María La Blanca Synagogue.
During the afternoon trip, we'll admire one of El Greco's most famous works. This would be The Burial of the Count of Orgaz, an oil on canvas painted between 1586 and 1588. We'll examine the links between this Cretan artist with the city of Toledo and delve into the legacy of Judaism by visiting the main synagogue in the old town.
We'll admire the outside of Toledo Cathedral and then give you around 20 minutes of free time to go shopping or continue exploring the old town before we return to Madrid.
