Liria Palace, A Different Museum in Madrid
Located on Calle de la Princesa, in the heart of Madrid and just a few steps from the Conde Duque barracks and Plaza de España, the Liria Palace is a must-see in the Spanish capital. Residence of the 19th Duke of Alba, this building has an enormous art collection that decorates its halls and rooms.
Erected in 1773 by order of Jacobo Fitz-James Stuart y Colón, ancestor of the current Duke of Alba, the Liria Palace stands out from the outside with its neat neoclassical façade. Did you know that it's also known as the "little brother of the Royal Palace"?
The Liria Palace has a total of 14 rooms, each of which houses a vast collection of works of art.
Temporary Exhibition
Between 14 February and 31 July, 2025, you can enjoy the temporary exhibition titled 'Flamboyant: Joana Vasconcelos en el Palacio de Liria'.
In this exhibition, organised by the Casa de Alba Foundation and Vasconcelos herself, with the collaboration of Madrid City Council, the Portuguese artist is showing her striking work in the halls and gardens of the Liria Palace, creating a groundbreaking dialogue with its collections.
