On this day trip to Toledo and the windmills in Consuegra, you'll see one of the most typical images of Castilla-La Mancha and visit the windmills that inspired Cervantes to write Don Quixote.

Day Trip Details

At the designated time, we'll meet at the Naval Museum in Madrid and leave the Spanish capital behind to start our journey toward the famous windmills of Consuegra.

We'll reach Castilla-La Mancha, and after a 1.5-hour drive, arrive at Consuegra, a charming town in the province of Toledo whose undeniable symbol is its windmills.

Once we arrive, it'll be impossible not to recall the adventures of Don Quixote in Cervantes' masterpiece. To make this tour even more special, we'll visit the place where eight windmills of Consuegra stand. Did you know it's one of Spain's largest and best-conserved windmill complexes?

Plus, to learn more about the features and work that's done in the windmills, we'll enter one of them. It'll be quite interesting!

Around 1:30 pm, we'll leave Consuegra behind and head to Toledo. We'll cross the Alcántara Bridge to reach the Plaza de Zocodover. Once we reach this square, if you want, you can participate in a tasting of typical products. This tasting includes: jamón ibérico de bellota (acorn-fed Iberian ham), a selection of Manchego cheeses, tomatoes from a garden with extra virgin olive oil, patatera ibérica (Iberian pork and mashed potatoes) from Extremadura, lomo ibérico de bellota (acorn-fed Iberian pork loin), bread, and two drinks to choose between water, wine, or a soda.

After this optional tasting, you'll have 2 hours of free time to explore Toledo at your own pace. We'll then regroup and head to the Mirador del Valle, where you'll have the chance to enjoy one of the city's best views.

We'll conclude our day trip by returning to the starting point in Madrid after 9 hours.

Additional Info

On Mondays, the tour with a tasting option will not be available because the restaurant where it's held will be closed.
