Description
Are you in Madrid and want to visit one of the most beautiful towns in Castilla-La Mancha? If so, at the indicated time we'll meet at 3, Paseo del Prado to begin this day trip to Consuegra, known for its famous windmills.
We'll travel by minibus to the town located in the province of Toledo. After a brief stop at Plaza de España Square in the town, where you can have breakfast at your own expense, we'll start a guided tour of the Cerro Calderico. On this hill, we'll see the infamous Consuegra windmills. Did you know that Don Quijote confused them for giants? During the tour, we'll discuss how these Manchegan landscapes inspired Miguel de Cervantes.
After exploring the hilltop, we'll go inside the Rucio Windmill, before continuing the tour in Consuegra at La Muela Castle. You'll be able to explore this medieval fortress at your own pace. It was in fact a key stronghold during the Reconquest of Spain thanks to its exceptionally strategic location.
From the castle, we'll head back to the meeting point in Madrid, where we'll arrive after a total of 5 hours.
