Hiking Tour Details
Having picked you up from your hotel in Madalena at the agreed time, we'll head into the heart of the island of Pico, the second largest island in the Azores, where we'll not only see incredible vineyard landscapes while hiking but also learn about the characteristics that make the wines of Pico so special. Did you know that the vineyards of Pico have been declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco?
As we walk through this volcanic terrain, we'll be able to admire the dense vegetation of the island, as well as wineries, manor houses, and agricultural trails. If you appreciate good wine, you'll enjoy discovering how Pico's wine dates back to the 15th century and is linked to the arrival of the first settlers.
After a 6.2-mile walk (10 km), we'll round up the tour by taking you back to the departure point, where we'll arrive 3.5 hours after the start of the tour.
