Tumucumaque Mountains National Park 4-day Tour
Description
Day 1: Macapá - Serra do Navio - Vila do Cachaço
At the indicated time, we'll meet at Odilardo Silva de Macapá road to board our minibus which will take us to Serra do Navio, which will take about 3 hours and 30 minutes. This area is where you can enter the National Park!
Our first stop will be the Vila do Cachaço, a small community located on the banks of the Amazon River. Here we'll enjoy a traditional riverside lunch consisting of fish, shrimp, chicken, beef, beans, pasta, and rice.
Once we have regained our strength, we'll spend the afternoon with the local people, who will teach us about their traditions and way of life. To end the day, we'll have our dinner before sleeping in the traditional house in Vila do Cachaço.
Day 2: Vila do Cachaço - Tumucumaque Mountains National Park
On day 2, we'll have our breakfast before heading to the Amapari River, where we'll take a boat ride to the Tumucumaque Mountains National Park. During this trip, which takes about six hours, we'll admire the lush natural scenery, make a stop for lunch and take a refreshing dip in the river. In the afternoon, we'll arrive at the Centro Rústico de Vivência, an interpretation center where we'll learn about some peculiarities of Brazilian forests.
We'll then have some dinner in a rural lodging in the area and get some rest for the next day of adventure.
Day 3: Tumucumaque Park
After breakfast, we'll embark on a hike through the Brazillian jungle. We'll walk along the so-called copaíba ecological trail, a route that will allow us to connect with nature and admire the diverse array of native trees, and learn about the various species of flora and fauna that only exist in the Amazon.
Following our hike, we'll have lunch to refuel before we begin the second trek of the day. The afternoon hike will be more focused on wildlife, so we'll be keeping an eye out for birds, insects, and other animals that inhabit the Tumucumaque Mountains. We'll return to the Centro Rústico de Vivência for dinner and rest!
Day 4: Tumucumaque Park - Lagoa Azul - Macapá
On our last day of this excursion through the Tumucumaque Mountains National Park, we'll have an early breakfast so that we can enjoy a morning sunrise over the trees. Witnessing the birds come out of their nocturnal refuges to go in search of food is a real spectacle.
Then, we'll head to Serra do Navio for a guided tour of the town. We'll gain an insight into its history and traditions and see how its people have adapted to life in the forest.
We'll have our lunch at Serra do Navio and then visit the Lagoa Azul (Blue Lagoon). In this natural pool surrounded by mountains, you'll be able to take a refreshing dip and relax!
