We'll collect you from your hotel in Saly early in the morning before driving to the huge Bandia Nature Reserve. Inside this protected wilderness area, you'll encounter beautiful forests and various species of wild animals, many of which are native to the African Savannah.
On the route, we'll pass majestic baobab trees which are only found in this part of the world. Our guide will tell you all about the importance these trees have for the Senegalese people and how they are often used as burial chambers.
As we continue our route in the offroading vehicle, we'll see some of the wonderful wildlife that inhabits this natural landscape. We'll find ourselves in the company of a huge number of species of birds, giraffes, buffalos, zebras, rhinos, monkeys, ostriches, and hyenas. Don't forget to bring your camera so you can capture these sights forever.
When the safari has finished, we'll leave Bandia behind and head north along the coast of Senegal until we reach Lac Rose (Pink Lake). Just after arriving, you'll have some free time so you can take some food in one of the local restaurants at your own leisure.
Afterward, we climb back into the 4x4 vehicle and begin our tour of the lake and the large sand dunes which surround it. The guide will tell you all about how the lake became this color and subsequently earned its name. If time allows, you'll also enjoy a refreshing dip in the salty waters.
Finally, we'll return to Saly at around 6 pm.
Bathing in Lac Rose
We'll bathe in Lac Rose only if time permits. If there is sufficient time, you'll have 15 minutes to enjoy the gorgeous pink waters.
Due to heavy rains in the summer of 2024, the lake has accumulated a lot of water and lost its color. Salt extraction activities have resumed, as well as tours and activities offered there, but the color has not returned yet and we do not know when it will be pink again.
