Laos Cooking Class
Laos Cooking Class: what to expect?
Having been picked up from your accommodation at the scheduled time, you'll begin your foodie adventure of Luang Prabang. If you've chosen the morning activity, the first part of your experience will be a visit to Phousi Market, the largest food market in the city. Mix with the locals and discover the most typical ingredients used in Laotian cooking as you explore the different food stalls.
It will then be time to head to the Cooking School for the main part of your activity. Here, you'll combine fresh local produce to make a complete menu of the most popular dishes in Laos' gastronomy.
- Different "jeow": Laos' spicy dipping sauces.
- Mok pa: a dish of steamed fish wrapped in banana leaves.
- Tamarind’s speciality: lemongrass stuffed with chicken & herbs
- Laap/koy: a salad with minced meat and herbs.
- Dessert will be a surprise!
You'll also learn the secret to cooking - and eating - sticky rice according to tradition.
After cooking up a storm, you'll sit down and indulge in your delicious creations. While you eat, your chef will share interesting facts about the culinary history and traditions of Laos. You'll soon be expert cooks in Laotian cuisine - what better souvenir to bring back home?
Are you vegetarian?
Not to worry! You'll have the opportunity to cook your own version of the menu, leaving out the foods you don't eat.
