Luang Prabang City Tour Itinerary
On the day of your tour, you'll be picked up from your hotel or the agreed meeting point ready to begin your guided English-language tour of Luang Prabang. If you choose to go on the morning tour, your first stop will be at a traditional local market, where you'll experience authentic daily life as you explore the typical food stalls selling everything from fresh vegetables and fish from the Mekong River to medicinal plants.
Your route will then take you to Wat Mai Suwannaphunmaram, a Buddhist temple constructed in the 18th century by King Anurat. Admire its exquisite architecture and rich red and gold interior as the feeling of tranquillity of this sacred place overcomes you.
You'll then head to the Royal Palace, officially known as Haw Kham. Nowadays a museum, visiting this former royal residence will offer you an insight into the fascinating history and culture of Laos. Just next to the Royal Palace, you'll have the opportunity to take photos at the emblematic dragon-guarded stairway up to the sacred Mount Phousi, Luang Prabang’s highest hill.
Witness Luang Prabang's colonial architecture as you walk over to Wat Xieng Thong, one of the capital's most beautiful temples, located between the Mekong and Nam Khan Rivers. The Buddhist sanctuary is also known as the Temple of the Golden City, and it is filled with spectacular mosaics and intricate carvings from the 16th century - well worth a visit!
Continue on to the Ock Pop Tok Living Artisan Centre, a unique place to discover the beautiful textiles and handicrafts made in Laos. The final stop on your city tour of Luang Prabang will be at the UXO Laos Visitors Centre, where you'll have the chance to watch a number of short films showcasing the history and culture of the country.
At the end of the tour you'll be dropped back off at your hotel.
