Los Gigantes Hiking Tour
At the scheduled time, we'll meet up at Route RP28 in Los Gigantes, grab the equipment, mentally prepare ourselves for the upcoming adventure, and learn about the details of the route.
After this brief intro, we'll set off on our medium-difficulty hike which will last about 8 hours and cover 16 kilometers (10 miles). The trail will take us through the valleys of the spectacular Los Gigantes mountain range, although there will be stretches where we'll reach over 2100 meters (6,900 feet) above sea level.
First, we'll cross the eastern slope of Los Gigantes, passing through the impressive La Cuchilla gorge. The next obstacle we'll have to cross will be the La Senda gorge, which will then give us direct access to the valleys. To do so, we'll have to negotiate the steps of a vertigo-inducing natural staircase. We'll make plenty of stops along the way so that you can rest, take in the impressive views, and enjoy the picnic lunch you've brought along with you.
Once we delve into the valley, the corridors of Anjo, Mocho, and Jano will open before us. The latter has an exceptional viewpoint where we'll be able to observe the majestic flight of the condors.
Finally, at 6 pm, the hike will come to an end back at the meeting point.
