Cueva de las Manos Day Trip + Hiking
Cueva de las Manos Day Trip + Hiking
Between 8 and 8:30 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Los Antiguos. We'll then hit the road and drive down Ruta 40, which will take us across the spectacular Caracoles Canyon. During the journey, we'll make a few stops so you can take pictures and admire the scenery.
Our journey will come to an end at the Cueva de las Manos Visitor Centre, where our hiking route through the Pinturas River Canyon will begin. The name of this gorge is due to the numerous rock walls filled with art that have been found in this area. Let's learn about the meaning behind these prehistoric paintings!
After walking for an hour, we'll finish our hike in the centre of the Cueva de las Manos. When we get there, we'll explain the different theories surrounding the painting. If you'd like to explore more of the Pinturas River Canyon, you can go on an additional 3-mile (5-kilometre) hike free of charge.
Once we're back at the Visitor Centre, we'll get our energy back with a lunch that'll include meat and vegetable rolls, fresh seasonal fruits and vegetables, homemade puddings and assorted infusions. After lunch, we'll hop on our minibus to head to Caracoles Canyon to go on a new hiking route. During our hike, we'll also see the Tierras de Colores. These striking hills are truly spectacular and are full of a range of intense colours.
At 5 pm, we'll return to your hotel in Los Antiguos.
