On this tour, we'll visit one of England's most famous cathedrals, the world's best-known megalithic monument, and the oldest inhabited castle in the world.
Stonehenge, Salisbury and Windsor Day Trip
We'll meet in the centre of London at 7:45 am. Our first stop will be Windsor Castle, the oldest inhabited castle in the world.
Here, you'll have free time to pass through its different halls, discovering why it's the favourite of the King's residences. You can admire works of art from such famous names as Rembrandt and Rubens, and you'll have the chance to visit the famous St. George's chapel where historical figures such as Henry VIII are laid to rest.
Leaving London we head west in the direction of Salisbury, on whose plains can be found Stonehenge, the world's most famous megalithic monument, built with stones weighing over 40 tonnes over 5,000 years ago. Stonehenge remains shrouded in mystery, as it's still unknown whether it was a religious temple, a cemetery, or something astronomically related.
Our next stop will be the city of Salisbury, famous for its cathedral, built 800 years ago and an incredible 123 metres high. In the cathedral, you can find the world's oldest working clock and the best-conserved copy of the Magna Carta in the spectacular "chapter house", one of the foundational documents of the English parliament (which remains the world's oldest functioning parliament) and modern law.
Finally, we'll begin the return journey to the centre of London, where we'll arrive around 6:30 pm. We'll drop you off at just a few minutes walk from Gloucester Road, near South Kensington tube station.
Important
As Windsor Castle is a functioning Royal Palace it may on occasion be closed. In addition, please keep in mind that you'll only have a short time to visit each city as the travel time is quite long.
