Rock and Roll Soho Free Tour
Description
Meet us at Golden Square Court to kick off this guided tour through one of London's most notorious neighborhoods. Today, we affectionately call it London's Rock and Roll haven, but truthfully, Soho has always been where the city comes alive after dark. In its storied past, Soho has been witness to it all: clandestine gatherings of the Communist Party led by none other than Karl Marx himself, a prodigious performance by an 8-year-old Mozart, the abode of the world's most infamous lover, Casanova, a cholera outbreak that threatened London's very existence, just to name a few historical events.
Join us as we journey through history, from where the Beatles played their inaugural and final London gig to the birthplace of Beatlemania itself. We'll explore iconic music venues that catapulted legends like The Who and The Rolling Stones to stardom. We'll marvel at the iconic London Palladium, a legendary venue where history has been written and stars have been born and discover the vibrant heart of Leicester Square, known for its entertainment, theaters, and cinematic premieres.
We'll pass through remnants of the old red-light district and saunter down the legendary Carnaby Street, an epicenter of 1960s fashion and the birthplace of the iconic miniskirt. As well as visit the iconic Liberty department store, a symbol of timeless elegance and refined shopping.
As we continue on, we'll uncover the poignant story behind Jimi Hendrix's final gift to the world and then switch gears to learn about the chilling cholera outbreak that once threatened the very fabric of London's existence.
Our adventure concludes Oxford Circus Station, leaving you with cherished memories of Soho's timeless charms.
