History of Buckingham Palace

Although it was constructed in 1703, Buckingham Palace wasn't officially designated the royal residence until 1837 with Queen Victoria's accession. Since then, the palace has been subject to numerous renovations, including the iconic balcony, which is used for public appearances.

The palace has over 775 rooms as well as the world's largest garden! Queen Elizabeth II used the palace as her main residence, while King Charles III currently divides his time between Buckingham Palace, Clarence House and Highgrove House.
