Itria Valley Villages Tour
At 9 am, we'll meet up in Piazza Antonio Mitrano in Locorotondo and set off on our tour of the Itria Valley's beautiful villages.
After we've introduced ourselves, we'll walk to the Piazza Vittorio Emanuele to see the two large 19th-century pillars that mark the ancient Porta Napoli. During our tour, we'll see the old Town Hall, which was the Communal Library at the end of the 18th century, the Palazzo Morelli with its splendid façade and small balconies with wrought iron railings, as well as the Mother Church of San Giorgio.
Once the tour of Locorotondo has come to an end, you'll hop into your own car and follow the guide as they show you the way to the next stop. Welcome to Martina Franca! This town is famous for its numerous baroque and rococo buildings. From Piazza XX Settembre, you'll pass through Porta di Santo Stefano and come to Piazza Roma, where you'll visit the Dolphin Fountain and the interior of the Palazzo Ducale.
Next, we'll head to Piazza del Plebiscito and visit the Basilica of St. Martin, the University building and the Clock Tower. Before continuing with the tour, we'll go to Piazza dell'Immacolata and its famous exedra, the Chapel of St. Nicholas of the Greeks and the Church of San Domenico.
Back in your cars, you'll follow your guide to Cisterino, the last stop on the tour and one of the most charming villages in the Itria Valley. There, you'll visit the Church of San Nicola, which is also known as the Mother Church. Did you know that it was built on top of a temple from the 8th century?
On the way back to Locorotondo, you'll be able to admire incredible views of the Itria Valley's landscape, which is full of olive groves and endless vineyards.
Having spent around 5 hours exploring the Itria Valley's villages, our tour will come to an end back at the meeting point.
