Day Trip to Covadonga and Cangas de Onís
Day Trip to Covadonga and Cangas de Onís
We'll pick you up at the indicated time at the bus station in Llanes, and head out towards the Asturian part of the majestic Picos de Europa National Park. Nestled between these dramatically steep peaks, we'll find the famous lakes of Covadonga, whose extraordinary natural beauty will captivate you.
Next, we'll stop first at the Entrelagos viewpoint, which will offer us beautiful panoramic views of the lakes Enol and Ercina. After a pause to enjoy the landscape, we'll head to the Royal Site of Covadonga to visit its basilica and the Holy Cave. In this cave, we'll see the figure of La Santina, the virgin who according to legend helped Don Pelayo to undertake the Reconquest.
After this very complete visit to Covadonga, we'll set off toward our next destination, Cangas de Onís. In this picturesque Asturian town, located on the banks of the rivers Sella and Güeña, you'll have two hours of free time to enjoy its numerous culinary delights and landscapes at your leisure.
During this time, you'll be able to marvel at the Roman bridge over the river Sella and visit some must-see monuments such as the church of Santa María de la Asunción. In front of it, you'll also see the statue of Don Pelayo.
Finally, we'll meet again in the center of Cangas de Onís and begin our journey back to Llanes, where we'll arrive seven hours after pickup.
