Ljubljana Christmas Tour
Tour Details
At the appointed time, we'll meet at 21 Ciril-Metodov trg, to start our Christmas tour of Ljubljana. Are you ready to discover the magic of Slovenia's capital city? Let's go!
First up, we'll head towards Prešeren Square, dedicated to France Prešeren, Slovenia's greatest romantic poet. As we enter the square, we'll see many Art Nouveau façades and the spectacular Franciscan Church of the Annunciation, built between 1646 and 1660, surround the statue of the author.
Next, we'll continue our walk until we reach the large Congress Square, where the combination of medieval and modern architecture is remarkable—can you imagine how pretty the space will be when it's decorated with Christmas lights? Magical!
From here, our route continues on the banks of the Ljubljanica River, while we tell you all about Slovenian Christmas traditions. For example, do you know why children receive presents three times in December? You will find out!
Lastly, we'll go around the old town to visit the Christmas market. Here we'll round off the tour with a tasting of roasted almonds, salted chocolate, Christmas honey, mulled wine, mulled gin, or Christmas tea and šmorn, a typical dessert of the country.
Afterward, we'll return to Prešeren Square, where we'll say goodbye after 1.5 hours of sightseeing.
