Round Hill Hiking Activity

At 11 am, we'll meet on West Street in Lismore and start walking along the Round Hill trail. This beautiful route is nestled among the trees and works its way along the banks of the River Blackwater.

We'll venture into Lismore's forest and come to the Special Area of Conservation. While we're here, we'll discuss the fascinating history that surrounds this place.

During our walk, we'll visit the Norman Motte and Bailey Castle, which was built by King John of England at the end of the 12th century to defend the country's borders.

As we cover the 3 miles (5 kilometres) of our hiking route, we'll admire beautiful views of the River Blackwater and hear the incredible Irish legends that surround Motte and Bailey.

It'll then be time to return to the meeting point and say our goodbyes at around 12:30 pm.
