Lismore Guided Tour
At 2 pm we'll meet on West Street to start this guided tour of Lismore, during which we'll learn about the history of this Irish city in County Waterford.
We'll begin by walking down Lismore's oldest street, the perfect place to journey back in time to its Celtic origins, Viking invasions and Norman settlements. The history of this town is incredibly rich! Nearby, we'll find the old railroad station, active until the 1960s and later used as a residential area.
Another of the important Lismore sites we'll see is the Famine Graveyard, a remnant of one of the most tragic stages in the history of the city. Next up? The St. Carthage Cathedral, which we'll admire from the outside to unveil the details of its façade.
Then we head to Lismore Castle, built on a hill overlooking the Blackwater River. This fortress has had many famous guests, from King Henry II of England to Fred Astaire and John F. Kennedy!
Finally, after a 50-minute guided walking tour of Lismore, the route will conclude with our return to the starting point.
