Train Trip to Sintra + Visit to the Quinta da Regaleira
Description
We'll meet at the scheduled time at the Rossio station, and from there, we'll travel by train to Sintra. The journey will take around 30 minutes.
After arriving at our destination, we'll take a guided tour around the old town of Sintra. This walking tour, which will take around an hour and a half, will take us to the most iconic places, such as the Pelourinho de Sintra fountain or the town hall.
We'll continue the tour passing by the picturesque streets of the old town, where we'll see the Castelo dos Mouros at a distance and the Palacio Nacional da Pena. The route around the historic centre will continue towards the Palacio Nacional da Sintra, where we'll admire its beautiful façade.
After learning about its history, we'll visit the Quinta da Regaleira. In this impressive palace, declared a World Heritage Site, we'll learn about the history of the unique owner, António Augusto Carvalho Monteiro. This individual left behind many symbols and enigmas in his palace, which we'll attempt to figure out during the visit.
One of the most unique monuments is the initiation well of Quinta da Regaleira. What was its exact function? Why was it built in this way? All your questions will be answered!
Finally, after the guided tour of the Quinta da Regaleira, we'll put an end to this trip after around 4.5 hours in total. The return journey to Lisbon must be organised on your own accord, as you have the opportunity to stay in Sintra if you wish.
