Lisbon Free Street Art Tour
We'll meet at the appointed time in front of the Chapel of Nossa Senhora da Saúde and start a guided tour of Lisbon's more alternative side. From the most traditional arts such as Fado to the street art that decorates the city's facades, you'll be dazzled at every step we take.
The tour will start by getting to know the most historical part of Lisbon but in a different way. Do you know who Martim Moniz was? We'll investigate the legend of this Lisbon war hero who fought in defence of St. George's Castle. From here we'll walk along the Fernandina walls.
Next, we'll reach the Mouraria Quarter, home to Fado in Lisbon. The narrow streets full of traditional low houses fill this quarter, where several generations of Portuguese families mix with the Chinese or Bangladeshi population in Portugal. During this free tour, we'll also learn about the history of Fado, as well as its importance to the lives of Lisbon's inhabitants.
We'll continue to make our way around this different side of Lisbon. The varied graffiti that fill the facades form symbolic murals where artists leave their mark. VHILS, Godmess, Akacorleone, Leonor Brilha, Mariana Dia Coutinho and Acer will be some of the artists that we'll discover throughout the tour.
For our final stop, we'll explore the Vila Estrela d'Ouro and Vila Bertha neighbourhoods until we reach Jardim da Cerca Graça and Jardim Botto de Machado, two lesser-known areas with unforgettable charm.
After approximately two hours of the free tour, we'll finish at the Jardim Botto de Machado.
