Fatima + Santarem Excursion
Description
At the scheduled time we'll meet in the Marqués de Pomba Square and leave Lisbon behind, as we make our way to the north of Portugal. Our first stop of the trip will be Santarem.
After getting off the bus, we'll explore this charming location, starting with the Santarem Diosis. There, we'll also be surprised by the architecture of the building, as we appreciate the rich religious heritage of the city.
Pay attention as the events of 1247 will be explained to you. Without a doubt, the history of this church will perplex you.
Our tour will then take us to the Porta do Sol Garden, where we'll enjoy some beautiful views of the region. Here, you'll have the opportunity to take some incredible photos. After visiting Santarem, we'll make another stop so that you can grab a bite to eat.
After eating, we'll continue our excursion to Fatima, one of Europe's most important pilgrimage centres. There, you'll have around 3 hours of free time to explore at your own pace.
In what year did the Virgin appear? And to whom? When was the sanctuary built? What secrets does Fatima hold? All of these questions will be answered during our visit.
After 8 hours together, we'll return to the meeting point in Lisbon, where the tour will end.
Tour with a Visit to Mira de Aire Caves
If you fancy extending your tour, you'll have the chance to add on a visit to the Mira de Aire Caves, where we'll explore an underground natural wonder. The incredible rock formations that developed through the passage of time and the turquoise blue lakes inside them are sure to impress you.
This visit to the caves will last around 1.5 hours. Therefore, the visit to Fatima will be reduced by 1 hour.
