Day Trip to Sintra, Nazaré, & Fátima
Day Trip Details
At the designated time, we'll meet at Rua da Conceição. We'll then set off west from this spot in Lisbon's historical center.
After a 1-hour journey, we'll reach the town of Sintra, where we'll embark on a guided tour of the gardens of the Palace of Pena. As you stroll through the gardens, you'll see from outside the eye-catching yellow and red hues that make this residence, once belonging to the Portuguese royal family, so famous. Do you know why it's decorated with such lively colors? You'll soon find out!
After touring the National Palace of Pena from the outside, we'll leave Sintra behind and continue our trip around Portugal by heading to Nazaré. In this coastal town, known for being a surf paradise, we'll visit a lookout, where you'll admire the strong waves that are frequent in this area of the country.
Next, you'll have 1 hour of free time in Nazaré to stroll through the town and try the delicious typical cuisine. After lunch, we'll head to the Sanctuary of Fátima and the Chapel of the Apparitions. Did you know this is one of the most worshiped sites in Europe? At this pilgrimage center, you'll have 1 hour of free time to explore the churches that make up this religious complex at your own pace.
From Fátima, we'll finally return to Lisbon, where we'll conclude this 10-hour day trip. Once we arrive at the Portuguese capital, we'll drop you off at the Praça da Figueira.
Itinerary Adjustments
In the event of recent fires in the area before the day trip, instead of visiting the Palace of Pena, we'll take you to the Queluz National Palace. If there are strikes, we'll visit Quinta da Regaleira castle instead of the Palace of Pena.
