Lima Street Food Free Tour
Tour Details
At the appointed time, we'll meet next to the church of La Merced to begin a free tour of Lima that will take us to explore the most popular markets of the Peruvian capital. It's time to enjoy the exquisite street food of the city!
We'll board a public bus and first head to the central market. Here we'll see what life is like for the locals and discover what the most representative products of Peru are. We'll also have the opportunity to interact with the vendors to learn all about the basic ingredients of Peruvian cuisine.
Afterward, we'll head to Lima's Chinatown. Why is this corner of Peru's gastronomy so important? We'll go back to the 19th century to learn about the origins of the Chinese settlement in the city and discover its links with the kitchen.
Of course, in the places we visit we'll taste typical drinks like Inka Cola, the Peruvian's favorite soft drink or lucuma juice. We'll accompany these drinks with different local specialties, both sweet and savory. From a tropical fruit platter, to Chinese siu mai, to Peruvian picarones, everything will be delicious!
Also, on this free tour we'll reveal the secrets of Chifa food by tasting some of the most famous dishes of this type of cuisine, while learning the history and tradition behind these unique culinary creations.
Then, after 2.5 hours and with full bellies, we'll bring the tour to an end.
