Lima Food Tour
When booking you can choose between the following options for a gastronomic tour of Lima. Both include tastings and an English–speaking guide. Below, you can find teh details of each tour:
Tour of the historic centre of Lima
In the morning, we'll meet in the district of Miraflores next to the Cafeteria Terrua, where our food tour of the historic centre of Lima will begin. Taking advantage of the location, we'll talk about the role of coffee in Peruvian society and its history over the centuries, where Peruvian coffee has managed to become one of the most valued coffees in the world. You'll see for yourselves!
After the coffee tasting, we'll hop on the metro to travel to the historic centre of Lima, where our first stop will be the Central Market and Chinatown. It'll be in the latter place where we'll enjoy a tasting of small recipes that fuse Chinese and Peruvian cuisine, as well as some traditional desserts or the typical drink "chicha morada", made from purple corn.
Afterwards, our walk will take us to some of the most iconic places in the historic centre of Lima, such as the Palacio de Congresos or the San Francisco Church. Nearby, we'll go to the Taberna Cordano, a traditional place more than a century old, where we'll taste the Peruvian churros and the stuffed potato, accompanied by the traditional Pisco Sour.
We'll end our food tour of Lima by accompanying you back to the Miraflores neighbourhood.
Miraflores & Surquillo Tour
We'll meet in the morning at the Cafeteria Terrua, located in the district of Miraflores. There, we'll start our day and our food tour enjoying a coffee tasting accompanied by an explanation about the importance of this beverage in Peru.
Afterwards, we'll move to the Surquillo Market, where we'll have the opportunity to taste some Peruvian fruits such as lucuma and other traditional products. From there, we'll walk to a local pastry shop where we'll taste some desserts made from ingredients we have previously seen in the market.
Later we'll go to La Preferida, one of the most popular places in Miraflores to enjoy a Peruvian ceviche. There you'll have the opportunity to enjoy some tapas made from seafood and other traditional products, accompanied by a typical Peruvian drink.
To end the gastronomic tour, we'll stop at a local café to enjoy a delicious churro tasting that will put the cherry on top of the tour!
