Nevado Rajuntay Hike
Day Trip Details
At the designated time, we'll set off from the meeting point in Lima towards the department of Junín, where we'll find the impressive Rajuntay mountain in the Andes mountain range. After a 1-hour drive, we'll have a brief pause at Chicla or Corcona to stretch our legs, buy a snack, and gear up for our adventure.
About seven hours after leaving Lima, we'll arrive at the Nevado Rajuntay viewpoint, where we'll have a moment to get used to the low temperatures and watch the sunrise from this high point. You'll be blown away by the natural spectacle of the first rays of sunlight rising over the mountains!
From here, we'll begin a 4-hour hike towards Rajuntay's summit. During the ascent, we'll pass by the Pucacocha Lagoon, where we'll stop for a moment to enjoy the spectacular landscapes. We'll continue our trek up until we reach the Rajuntay glacier, at an altitude of 5200 metres (17060 feet) above sea level.
After enjoying our time at the summit, we'll begin our descent back to the starting point, completing a total of 8 hours of trekking. Once we're back at the vehicle, we'll start our return to Lima. Along the journey, we'll have a stop where you can grab a bite to eat at a restaurant.
Lastly, we'll arrive in Lima and say our goodbyes around 8 pm.
