Travel back in time to the era of colonial Lima with our House Aliaga Guided Visit. You'll visit one of the Peruvian capital's oldest buildings, which was constructed in the same year that Lima was founded.

House Aliaga Guided Visit

At your chosen time, we'll meet in Perú Square where House Aliaga, one of the oldest buildings in Lima, is located.

The history of this mansion dates back to the time of Francisco Pizarro. This conquistador from the Spanish region of Extremadura divided plots of land in the recently founded Lima among his men. Among them was Jerónimo de Aliaga y Ramírez, who at the age of 16 went to the Indies and ended up becoming one of the conquerors of Peru. The Aliaga lineage has lived in this house since it was built in 1535 when Lima was founded.

Aliaga House has also witnessed important moments in Peru's history. During the period of the Republic, the house served as a place of refuge for President Miguel Iglesias, Rear Admiral Aurelio García and Generals Manuel Velarde and Antonio Bentín.

We'll explore the luxurious halls of the House Aliaga while we learn all about the family that's lived here for 17 generations. During our visit, we'll explore the tiled living room and bedrooms decorated with furniture reminiscent of Louis XVI, French carpets and Japanese vases. From the large windows of the lavish diving room, we'll also look out at the courtyard and its 19th-century English fountain.

Another must-see is the chapel, whose walls were once covered with silver plates that were looted during the War of Independence.

After just under 3 hours touring the iconic Aliaga House, we'll finish our guided visit and say our goodbyes.
