Lima Tour & Gold of Peru Museum Visit
Gold of Peru Museum Tour
We'll pick you up at your hotel at the indicated time and once we're ready, we'll begin this journey through the ancient artistic creations of Peru. The first stop will be the Plaza Mayor, where we'll contemplate the Municipal Palace, the Government Palace and the Cathedral of Lima as we learn about the history of the city.
Next, we'll visit a traditional restaurant on Jiron Ancash Street for a tasting of Peru's emblematic drink: the pisco sour. After pampering the palate, we'll head to our star destination: the Museum of Gold of Peru and Weapons of the World. This precinct houses more than eight thousand pieces that show the customs and beliefs of the Peruvian pre-Columbian cultures.
During your tour of the museum, as well as textiles and utensils from the period, mummies and funerary bundles, you'll be able to admire the impressive work of the precious metal goldsmiths of the pre-Inca cultures of the northern coast of Peru. Masks, bracelets, necklaces? You'll be amazed by the details they managed to carve out of gold and precious stones.
The museum is called Weapons of the World because it also houses a fascinating collection of twenty thousand weapons from different periods and origins. If you're a fan of weapons, you'll be fascinated by the thousands of pieces that also include war uniforms, armour and mounts.
Finally, we'l bring the tour to an end, 3.5 hours later.
