Want to know what the Pacific War between Peru and Chile was like in Lima? And enjoy one of the best panoramic views of the city? Then this free tour through the district of Chorrillos is the one for you.
Chorrillos Free Tour
At the selected time, we'll meet at the Teran bus station to start our free tour of Chorrillos, one of the most historic districts of Lima.
The tour will start at the Malecon, and we'll remember the fishing history of these lands. We'll walk along some of the most popular bays of Chorrillos, such as Agua Dulce beach or La Herradura. Bordering the coast, we'll go to the so-called Salto del Fraile, a viewpoint with incredible views of the high cliffs, and we'll also pass by a handicraft market.
Next, we'll start our way up to the top of the Morro Solar, a mountain range full of monuments. We'll see the outside of a large planetarium, one of the most famous in the country, admire the Christ of the Pacific, visit the obelisk of the Unknown Soldier and go to the Virgen del Morro sanctuary.
As we walk through the Morro Solar, we'll remember the consequences of the War of the Pacific at the end of the 19th century and discover the key role of people such as President Miguel Iglesias.
The free tour of Chorrillos will take us to the Villa marshes, an environmental reservoir home to over 200 bird species. After a two-and-a-half-hour drive, we'll end the tour here at this natural spot.
