Ready for an adventure? Ride a 4x4 through the desert dunes of Chilca or Marcahuasi on this tour from Lima. You can go hiking, sandboarding or biking.
Chilca or Marcahuasi Desert 4x4 Tour
When making your booking, you'll be able to choose from different experiences. All options include pickup from your hotel, transport by 4x4, an English-speaking guide and all the equipment you'll need for the activity. You can check out the details of both options below:
Sandboarding (2 hours)
At the indicated time, we'll pick you up at the point in Lima of your choice. In a 4x4 vehicle, we'll travel for an hour southbound to the desert of Chilca.
Upon arrival at our destination, we'll start a tour of the dunes in an all-terrain vehicle, enjoying the beautiful and arid landscape of the area. Then we'll get to try out one of the preferred sports by the locals in the area: sandboarding.
We'll kit ourselves out with the necessary material for the activity and, after a brief explanatory talk, we'll slide down the dunes on the boards. You'll love this fun experience in the huge sand mountains of Chilca!
After 2 hours sliding on the sandboards, we'll return to the 4x4 and go back to Lima. We'll be back at your hotel 4 hours after the tour starts.
Schedule: This tour takes place at 8 am and 2 pm.
Sandboarding + Picnic in Chilca (7 hours)
If you want an even more complete experience, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Lima and take you to the desert of Chilca.
Once there, the pilot in charge will start driving the off-road vehicle to enjoy the beautiful staggered dunes. When we have all the equipment ready and done a practice lesson, it'll be time to jump into the sand dunes of the Chilca desert and start the sandboarding experience!
After 2 hours of enjoying the sandboarding activity, you'll be offered a delicious picnic lunch in the desert to regain strength. This includes red wine, a ham and cheese board, different varieties of bread, water and other snacks.
After 7 hours of enjoying the Chilca desert, we'll drop you back at the meeting point.
Schedule: 8 am and 2 pm
Biking in the Chilca Desert (6 hours)
We'll start the 4x4 tour of the Chila desert at the selected time. First, we'll ride through the dunes of Chilca in an off-road vehicle. Then we'll change it up and start an amazing bike route through the desert.
We'll pedal through the different dunes, gradually raising the level until we reach the top of the highest dune in the Chilca desert. It'll be an amazing experience!
After 6 hours of activity, we'll return to your hotel and end the tour.
Schedule: This tour takes place at 8 am and 2 pm.
Hiking in Marcahuasi (11 hours)
If you choose this option, we'll have to get up early. We'll pick you up at your hotel at the indicated time and we'll leave in 4x4 vehicles towards San Pedro de Casta. After a brief stop to rest, we'll continue the tour towards the entrance of Marcahuasi.
At this point, we'll start the hiking route until we reach the Marcahuasi Plateau. Throughout the hike, we'll enjoy landscapes full of impressive rock formations, beautiful and colourful lagoons and archaeological sites that will leave you speechless.
Finally, we'll return to your hotel and finish the activity after an 11-hour tour.
