Caral & Castle of Chancay Tour
Caral + Castle of Chancay Tour
After picking you up at the indicated time at the point of your choice in Lima, we'll head towards the sacred city of Caral following the Panamerican Highway North. On the way, we'll stop for breakfast so you can grab yourselves a bite to eat.
The archaeological site of Caral is almost as old as the pyramids of Egypt! We'll tour the citadel while we tell you details about the civilization that gives its name to the complex and that expanded in this area of Peru between 3000 and 1800 BC.
We'll discover the pyramids of Caral, the amphitheatre, its temples and residential areas. It'll be like travelling back to pre-Columbian times! After exploring the fortress, we'll take a break for lunch in a local restaurant.
With our energy restored, we'll return to the Chancay Castle, built in the middle of the 20th century by order of Consuelo Amat, great-granddaughter of the Viceroy of Peru. Following her trip to Europe, Consuelo decided to build this European-style palace to live in with her family. Today, the complex has been remodelled and converted into a theme park. We'll climb to the highest part of the castle, from where we'll be able to see the place where the Covadonga ship was sunk during the Pacific War.
Finally, we'll start our return journey to Lima and arrive back at the starting point at around 8 pm.
