Colombian Amazon 2-Day Tour

  • 2 reviews | 14 travellers
The experience was good and I recommend everyone to do it, but we did not do what is explained here. First of all, we did not go to the La Libertad tribe, but they took us to the Maloca Community. We toured the jungle and had some incredible experiences, but we did not visit any chagra or go canoeing or anything like that. I think they manage the times there and depending on the riverbed or availability they take you to a place. You have to adapt and enjoy.

Description

Day 1

This 2-day tour will start at your accommodation in Leticia. At the indicated time we'll pick you up and head to the heart of the Amazon jungle. Here we go!

We'll board a boat that will take us along the Amazon River. We'll travel approximately 43 kilometres (26 miles) for an hour and a half. As we go along, we'll pass by charming communities located on the Amazon riverbank.

On arrival at the indigenous community of La Libertad, we'll begin the morning's activities. First of all, we'll visit the chagra, which are the community's crops. There, we'll learn about the importance of agriculture for the Yagua people and how this sustainable practice is integrated into their daily lives.

Afterwards, we'll take an exciting nature walk through the Amazon rainforest. For approximately 1 hour, we'll explore the lush nature and go in search of species such as frogs, tarantulas and monkeys. You'll feel connected to the area's wildlife!

A traditional lunch will be served around midday. This will be the perfect opportunity to enjoy the region's authentic food and refuel before the afternoon activities.

After lunch, you'll have time to rest before embarking on a canoe ride on the Amazon. Also, with luck, we may get to see a beautiful sunset over the river. Don't forget your camera!

We'll finish the activities around 5:30 pm and return to the community for dinner. After 8 pm, you'll enjoy a special chat with one of the oldest locals, who will share his wisdom about the culture and history of his people.

Day 2

After a well-deserved rest, we'll start the second day with a delicious breakfast at 8 am. Then we'll participate in a crafts workshop, where we'll learn different techniques together with the experts of the community.

After this experience, we'll say goodbye to the members of the community and start our journey back to Leticia. Arrival is scheduled for 11 am. We hope to see you again soon!
