León Food Tour + Shoe Factory Visit
Description
At the time indicated, we'll meet at Avenida del Tecnológico 308, where we'll start a very special tour around León. Let's go!
Firstly, we'll visit a shoe factory. Here, we'll learn about the process of making shoes and the tradition and quality that characterise the shoe industry in León. You'll even see some shoes being made!
After touring the shoe factory, we'll head to the centre of León to admire some of its main monuments. We'll pass the Arco de la Calzada, a symbol of the city which marks the entrance to the historic centre. Don't forget your camera!
The next stop will be Templo Expiatorio, a neogothic church that is a must-see in León. What do you think of its impressive facade? Then, we'll go to the San Juan de Dios neighbourhood. This picturesque region boasts cobbled streets and colourful colonial houses. Here, we'll find artisanal shops, art galleries and even cafes.
Now it's time for the food part of the tour. We'll head to a bar, famous for its guacamayas. These are a traditional dish from León which consists of a special type of bread roll, filled with pulled meat, sauce and avocado.
To accompany the guacamaya, we'll enjoy a refreshing local drink called cebadina, made from fruit and herbs. To end our food tour, we'll go to an ice-cream parlour to try the so-called flavoured snow. Did you know that Leon is also known for its huge variety of ice-creams? From classic flavour to more creative, they have them all!
After 4 hours, we'll end this tour of León in the San Juan de Dios neighbourhood.
