Lecce Guided Visit

Having met you at the scheduled time in the Piazza Sant'Oronzo, we'll set off on our guided visit of Lecce. This enchanting city is also known as the Florence of the South.

As we start walking through the historic centre of Lecce, we'll travel back in time to the era of the Roman Empire. You'll see the theatre and the amphitheatre, which date back to the 2nd century AD.

Our tour will also take us to the façade of the Castle of Charles V, which was built in 1539. We'll then delve deeper into Lecce's links with the Spanish Crown as we stroll past Renaissance buildings, such as Vernazza Palace, and several churches with Baroque features

Next, we'll admire the Church of San Giuseppe and take note of the decorative details on the Basilica of Santa Croce. As we admire the architecture, we'll discuss the dragons on its façade, which are said to represent the legendary Battle of Lepanto.

We'll also visit the exterior of Lecce Cathedral and its square, where we'll see the Episcopal Palace and the seminary.

After 1 hour 30 minutes exploring Lecce, we'll finish our guided visit back at the starting point.
