Le Thoronet Abbey is one of Provence's Cistercian gems. Get your ticket to delve into its medieval origins and marvel at its architectural wonders.
Description
The great French region of Provence currently has only three Cistercian abbeys. One of the most notable stands on the outskirts of the picturesque French town of Le Thoronet.
With this ticket to Le Thoronet Abbey, you'll be able to wander through this magnificent medieval monastery built by the Order of Cistercians in the 12th century as a place of spiritual retreat, contemplation, and for the study of the sacred scriptures.
One of the most important areas in the abbey is The Cloister, right in the center of the priory. We also recommend visiting the lavabo washing fountain and the dormitory, where the monks slept in cells.
You'll also be able to admire the traditional medieval architecture of Provence, such as the Abbey Church, the refectory, the sacristy, the chapter house, or the armariums where the monks kept the liturgical books.
