Don't miss the chance to visit the Atomic Museum and explore the rich history of nuclear testing in Southern Nevada and its significant influence on popular culture.

Description

Take advantage of your trip to Las Vegas and visit the Atomic Museum to learn the complex history of nuclear arms in the United States and its influence over the decades since its creation.

The NTS Historical Foundation is dedicated to preserving and facilitating access to the historical significance of the Nevada Nuclear Testing Site. Their mission is to encourage the exploration and discussion of these historical artifacts and their profound impact on the nation.

The collection houses a captivating array of unique objects intricately connected to the United States' atomic testing program, from nuclear reactors employed in rocket development to the earliest air-to-air missiles.

At the National Atomic Testing Museum, you'll uncover well-known nuclear arms and some lesser-known gems, including the Davy Crockett XM-388 projectile, the B54 backpack bomb, and the AIR-2 Genie rocket. The museum proudly showcases the Phoebus-2A, the most potent nuclear propulsion reactor created during the Rover Project.

Within the museum, you'll discover a dedicated room that exclusively houses pop culture artifacts inspired by the creation of the atomic bomb. This exhibit offers a captivating glimpse into the profound impact this facet of military development had on everyday life in the United States. From television shows to comics and even children's toys, it's a compelling representation of how the atomic era permeated American culture.

Schedule

The Atomic Museum is open Monday through Sunday between 9 am and 5 pm. Operating hours can be subject to change.
