Laguardia Guided Tour + Winery Visit & Tasting
Laguardia Guided Tour + Winery Visit & Tasting
Having met up at the scheduled time in the heart of Laguardia on Mayor Kalea, we'll start exploring one of the most beautiful towns in Spain. Let's go!
To begin, we'll stroll through Laguardia's narrow streets and discuss its history. We'll take a look at the coat of arms that decorate the façades of its cobbled houses and doorways, transporting you back to the Middle Ages.
We'll then continue walking through Laguardia until we come to a viewpoint, from which we'll admire unique views of this Basque town. You'll be able to see the wall and its towers, as well as the Toloño mountain range and the vineyards that stretch across the Rioja Alavesa.
Our guided tour of Laguardia will also take us to the St. John the Baptist Church so we can see the town's patron saint. As we stand before the church, we'll discuss how it's one of the best examples of Romanesque architecture in the area. From here, we'll stroll through the Jewish quarter until we come to the main square.
After touring Laguardia, we'll head inside one of its remarkable wine caves. We'll make our way down to a depth of 23 feet (7 metres) underground to discover how wine has been made here since the 16th century.
Once we're in the wine cave, we'll round off our experience by tasting 2 typical wines from the Rioja Alavesa region. Cheers!
It'll then be time to say our goodbyes outside the wine cave, having spent 1 hour 30 minutes exploring Laguardia and its history.
