On this whale-watching experience, we'll go to Chañaral de Aceituno, a paradise for marine animals in the Chilean Pacific. We'll also have a delicious lunch!
Tour Details
Are you ready to see the largest mammals of the Chilean Pacific? We'll start this journey by picking you up at your hotel in La Serena at the indicated time. From there, we'll drive north for 120 kilometres (74.5 miles) until we reach Chañaral de Aceituno.
Once there, we'll head to the coast to board the boat that will take us to the island of Chañaral de Aceituno, which is home to more than 6 square kilometres (2.3 square miles) of fascinating natural life. This island, which is part of the Pingüino de Humboldt National Reserve, is home to thousands of marine animals.
During the boat trip, you may see otters in the rock formations along the coastline—keep your eyes peeled! When you least expect it, we'll anchor at a strategic observation location and point out where we'll see the first sighting of humpback whales. These impressive mammals swim in the area thanks to the food and optimal conditions for their calves.
We'll also see several species of migratory birds, sea turtles, albatrosses, bottlenose dolphins, and we'll even be able to spot penguins in the distance. Don't forget your camera!
Lastly, we'll return to dry land and start our return journey, but not before visiting a local restaurant for a delicious 3-course Chilean lunch.
Finally, we'll say goodbye at your hotel 10 hours after pickup. Until next time!
