Conquer one of the highest peaks in the Americas on this day trip to the Incapillo crater. A stunning lake, vicuñas and magnificent rock formations await!

Description

At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in La Rioja and, before sunrise, we'll head out into the region's breathtaking landscapes towards the Incapillo crater, one of the natural jewels of the province.

As we travel in the 4x4 towards the Quebrada del Peñón, the light of dawn will begin to appear, and we'll enter the Laguna Brava Provincial Reserve, a spectacular natural area characterised by saltwater lagoons where we'll admire vicuñas and guanacos - the most quintessential species of the Andes.

Afterwards, we'll visit the Pampa del Veladero, a desert valley where we'll find mounds of ice that emerged due to a fascinating natural phenomenon. We'll then leave you with some free time so that you can take a break and refuel with the food you have brought with you.

After we've eaten our fill, we'll head along the Veladero River to Mount Pissis, at more than 6,800 metres (22,000 feet) above sea level, the second-highest peak in the Americas! Finally, we'll be close to Incapillo, a crater located at 5,500 metres (18,000 feet) above sea level where a lake formed by meltwater awaits us.

We'll walk around the Incapillo crater and take plenty of time to admire the scenery at our own pace. Don't forget to take photos! After enjoying the hike, we'll return to the 4x4 and begin our journey back to La Rioja.

After 15 hours of adventure, we'll conclude the activity back at your hotel.
