Torres Peak Snowshoe Hike
Torres Peak Snowshoe Hike
At 10:30 am, we'll meet at the La Braña restaurant in La Raya, an Asturian village. Once we've all arrived, we'll get our equipment ready and set off on a snowshoeing hike to the glacial cirque of Torres Peak, the perfect way to enjoy some gentle exercise surrounded by nature.
During this 3.7-mile (6-kilometre) route, we'll take on smooth ascents and descents by the base of the Torres Peak while we admire beautiful views of the spectacular mountains and valleys of the area. We'll also come across glacial peat bogs and heathland and, if you look closely, you may even spot some alpine newts, partridges or hares.
As we walk along the snowy trails, we'll look out at incredible panoramic views of the Cantabrian Mountains. We'll also be able to get a good look at Torres Peak, a quartzite mountain that towers at an altitude of 6,900 feet (2,104 metres). In addition, we'll discuss some fun facts about snow and tell you some local legends.
It'll then be time to start our return journey back to the starting point in La Raya, where we'll finish our activity at around 1:30 pm.
